REPORT CARD VS. RAMS
PASSING OFFENSE: B-minus -- In the end, two big pass players -- one to Bobby Engram that set up the game-tying touchdown and one to Deion Branch that set up the game-winning field goal -- turned the game in the Seahawks' favor. But that came after a first half in which Seneca Wallace was sacked three times, hit hard multiple others and produced only 45 passing yards. Overall, Wallace finished 15 for 25 for 226 yards with an 89.8 passer rating.
RUSHING OFFENSE: B -- Coach Mike Holmgren seems to have settled on Maurice Morris as his starting running back, and Morris rewarded Holmgren's decision with 86 yards on 15 carries, a 5.7 average. Morris' production in the second half allowed the Seahawks to maintain control of the ball and prevent quarterback Seneca Wallace from getting hit as often as he did in the first half. Overall, the Seahawks gained 125 yards on 27 carries.
PASS DEFENSE: B -- Like every other unit in this game, it played poorly in the first half and well in the second half, allowing Marc Bulger to complete 19 of 32 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown. When the Rams got the ball back with less than three minutes to go, though, Seattle's secondary forced three straight incompletions to give the ball back to the offense with enough time left to win the game.
RUSH DEFENSE: B -- The Seahawks' defense gave up 81 yards to Steven Jackson in the first half, but shut him down with just 10 yards in the second half -- eventually knocking him out of the game with a hard hit. It relinquished 131 rushing yards for the game but was stout in the final two quarters.
SPECIAL TEAMS: B -- PK Olindo Mare had the game-winning field goal, as well as 50- and 28-yarders in the third quarter that got the Seahawks back in the game. Punter Jon Ryan kicked four times for a 52.3 average. But kick returner Josh Wilson was stripped of the ball and fumbled it away in the first half, and punt returner Justin Forsett caught a ball inside the 10.
COACHING: B -- At a time that he easily could have given up, Mike Holmgren laid into his players at halftime, prompting them to come out in the second half with more effort and focus. At this point in what was a 2-11 season, he easily could have given up in a meaningless game.
