Seattle Seahawks Strategy and Personnel 2008-12-11

Seattle Seahawks Strategy and Personnel 2008-12-11
It sounds as if Walter Jones could be out for the remainder of the season, which would mean the offensive line would remain as it was last week against New England, with Sean Locklear playing left tackle in place of Jones, followed by Floyd Womack, Steve Vallos, Mansfield Wrotto and Ray Willis.

Defensive end Baraka Atkins also may see more time in place of Lawrence Jackson after Atkins got two sacks against the Patriots last week.

PLAYER NOTES

--QB Matt Hasselbeck did not practice on Wednesday and is questionable for Sunday's game vs. St. Louis.

--LT Walter Jones did not practice on Wednesday and is questionable vs. the Rams on Sunday.

--LB Leroy Hill did not practice on Wednesday and is question able for Sunday's game, though his shoulder stinger is improving.

--WR Koren Robinson sat out with a sore knee on Wednesday but he will play in Sunday's game.

--C Pat Murray, who was on the practice squad, was signed to the Denver Broncos' 53-man active roster.

--C Donovan Raiola was signed to replace Pat Murray on the practice squad.

GAME PLAN: If the Seahawks play as efficiently and earnestly as they did against the New England Patriots last week, they will easily beat a Rams team that has lost seven in a row. What Seattle must guard against is a sense of complacency, both because they beat the Rams already by 24 points earlier this year and because they played so well against a quality opponent last week.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Seahawks special teams vs. Rams PK Josh Brown - Brown has missed easy field goals in three of his last four games. He will certainly want to do well against his former team and may feel the pressure if the game is on the line.

Seahawks TE John Carlson vs. Rams pass defense: Carlson leads Seattle with 46 receptions and has been coming on strong. St. Louis is giving up 225 passing yards a game, which is 25th in the NFL.

INJURY IMPACT: The Seahawks know that Matt Hasselbeck is not likely to play, which will allow Seneca Wallace to practice the entire week. Last week, when they thought Hasselbeck would play, Wallace got only 11/2 full days of practice.
