REPORT CARD VS. DOLPHINS
PASSING OFFENSE: D-plus -- Quarterback Seneca Wallace was 21 for 38 for 185 yards and a touchdown, but he should have completed at least five more passes. Keary Colbert dropped two, both at a critical time in the fourth quarter; Koren Robinson dropped a touchdown that would have allowed the Seahawks to take the lead; John Carlson dropped the final pass of the game, preventing the Seahawks from getting into field goal range; and Bobby Engram dropped one pass.
RUSHING OFFENSE: B-plus -- Using Julius Jones for the most part, the Seahawks rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries, a 5.5-yard average. Jones had 88 yards on 16 carries, his best production since the third week of the season.
PASS DEFENSE: B -- Dolphins QB Chad Pennington was 22 for 36, but he never really hurt the Seahawks downfield. The one touchdown they gave up, a 39-yard flea-flicker from Pennington to Ted Ginn Jr., was well covered; Ginn made an incredible grab while warding off both Marcus Trufant and Brian Russell.
RUSH DEFENSE: D -- The Seahawks said they were prepared for Miami's Wildcat offense, yet they were caught out of position in the first half, when they gave up a 51-yard TD to Ricky Williams out of the Wildcat; and they gave up a 16-yard TD run to Ronnie Brown out of the Wildcat. In total, the Dolphins rushed for 155 yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS: B -- The special teams gave up a 100-yard kickoff return for a TD to Ted Ginn Jr. to start the game, but it was called back for holding. Former Dolphins kicker Olindo Mare booted two field goals, of 37 and 27 yards. P Jon Ryan had five attempts for a 39.6 average.
COACHING: B-minus -- Mike Holmgren did a decent job of adjusting to an early hamstring injury to QB Seneca Wallace, whose mobility was limited thereafter. The defense was not prepared for the Dolphins' Wildcat offense, which scored two TDs - of 51 and 16 yards - off running plays.
