Seattle Seahawks Strategy and Personnel 2008-10-02

OL Sean Locklear will step back in at starting right tackle, while Floyd Womack will remain at right guard. Ray Willis may get some time playing guard as well.

If Deion Branch can play, it appears he will be starting flanker, while Billy McMullen will remain the starting split end. Bobby Engram appears to be the slot receiver, and Keary Colbert is probably the fourth receiver.

Julius Jones will start at running back, while Maurice Morris, if he can play, will back him up. T.J. Duckett will back up Jones if Morris can't go, but will be limited to short-yardage and goal line situations if Morris is healthy.

PLAYER NOTES

--WR Deion Branch took part in practice and is expected to play on Sunday.

--WR Bobby Engram took part in practice and is expected to play.

--RB Maurice Morris had limited participation in practice and is questionable for Sunday's game in New York.

--WR Koren Robinson has a sore knee and had only a limited practice. He is questionable for Sunday's game in New York.

--DT Craig Terrill, who sat out Monday with a sore knee, practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday.

GAME PLAN: The Seahawks need to control the ball with their now-balanced offense because if they don't, New York's huge offensive line and bruising back Brandon Jacobs are likely to. They also need to give Matt Hasselbeck protection against New York's vaunted pass rush, which has 13 sacks.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Seahawks LBs vs. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs - Seattle's linebacker corps is one of the NFL's best. Those linebackers will need to gang up on Jacobs, whose size usually allows him to break through the first wave of defenders. Lofa Tatupu needs to do a good job of shedding blockers.

Seahawks offensive line vs. Giants pass rush: Seattle's offensive line is much improved this season in both pass protection and run blocking. The Giants have 13 sacks this season are tied for fourth in the league. Fred Robbins has four and Justin Tuck has one.

INJURY IMPACT: WR Deion Branch practiced and is likely to play, but there is some question if he will be able to play the entire game after having surgery to repair his knee.

--WR Bobby Engram practiced, and because he has had an injured shoulder he said his conditioning has stayed fairly level, which should enable him to play the entire game in the slot.
