INJURY REPORT:

--QB Matt Hasselbeck has a sore back and will sit out the remainder of the exhibition season. He will be able to play in the season opener at Buffalo on Sept. 7.

--Mike Holmgren made it seem as if WR Deion Branch is not going to be able to return in the season opener, as Holmgren has said all camp. He didn't give a specific time for his return but insinuated Branch is not comfortable yet with the strength of the knee, which was surgically repaired in February.

--DT Red Bryant, who had surgery to repair torn cartilage three weeks ago, returned to practice this week. He is unlikely to play in any preseason games but should be ready for the regular season.

--P Brandon Coutu has a sore groin and is considered day-to-day.

--C Chris Spencer, who missed all of training camp with a sore back, returned to practice last week. He could play in the preseason finale against Oakland, replacing Steve Vallos.

--OT Sean Locklear has a sprained knee and will miss the remainder of the preseason. He has a chance to play in the season opener but could miss that as well. He has been replaced by Ray Willis.

--LB Will Herring continues to be sidelined with inflammation of the joints. He is a candidate for the PUP list. It opens a spot for David Hawthorne as a backup MLB.

--LS Tyler Schmitt continues to be sidelined with a sore back. He is listed as day-to-day.

--OT Samuel Gutekunst, part of the league's international program, has a herniated disc in his back and is out indefinitely.

--DT Larry Tripplett returned to practice last week but did only limited drills. He should be available for the final preseason game.

--DL Chris Cooper remains sidelined with a leg injury. He is day-to-day.

--WR Bobby Engram is out for at least another month with a cracked bone in his shoulder.
