--New Seahawks coach Jim Mora will have his first team meeting on Monday, at which point outgoing coach Mike Holmgren said he will bow out of any real communication with the team.
--DE Patrick Kerney, who played under Mora in Atlanta, said the team can expect far more energetic practices under Mora than they did under Holmgren, in part because Mora actually takes part in some of the practices and challenges the players to keep up.
--Seahawks players last Friday gave Holmgren a $40,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle as a going-away present. Holmgren always said that when he retires, he wants to spend a lot of time riding his motorcycle and thinking. That came a week after they gave him the Largent Award, an honor usually reserved for a player.
--In his farewell press conference, Holmgren said that left tackle Walter Jones is the best offensive lineman he has ever seen play. He said the late Reggie White is the best defensive lineman he has seen play.
--Holmgren said that he had been contacted by NBC to serve as an analyst for their playoff broadcasts. However, he went on to say he wouldn't be doing any television work until he gets rid of a cold he has been fighting for four months.
--The Seahawks will have the fourth pick in the draft this year, beating out Cleveland (also 4-12) based on strength of schedule. It will be Seattle's highest pick since taking Shawn Springs with the third pick in 1997. (They also chose Walter Jones sixth that year.)
