Seattle Seahawks Notes, Quotes 2009-05-04
--LB Aaron Curry saw a couple familiar faces when he arrived in Seattle this week, with former Wake Forest products offensive lineman Steve Vallo

s and tight end John Tereshinksi already on the team's roster.

"John was always like my bash brother at Wake Forest," Curry said about Tereshinksi. "I was the guy on defense that was going to take your head off, and he was the guy on offense that was going to take your head off. And we were both on special teams. And we were the true Demons on the field where no matter what the situation was we were going to play full speed no matter what. And if that whistle hadn't blown yet you should have your head on a swivel."

--Coach Jim Mora said former Carolina cornerback Ken Lucas, a free agent who the team signed to a reported, one-year, $2.3 million contract with the some of the salary cap flexibility they created by pulling the franchise tag from LB Leroy Hill, will be the starting right corner to begin with over Josh Wilson.

"I know it wasn't a popular move with Josh, but I felt like it was the right thing to do," Mora said. "We signed Kenny. He's been a player in this league for a long time. He's been a successful player. And we're going to put him in that spot. ... He's a taller guy. He's physical. He's competitive. He's smart. And I think we're going to get his best. I think he's really motivated. He's got a little chip on his shoulder because of what happened to him. He got cut. He was on the open market for a while, and I think he has something to prove."

--DE Nick Reed, the Seahawks' seventh-round pick out of Oregon, will get a good look by Seattle.

"I've always been a Nick Reed fan just watching him on TV," Mora said. "I know he's undersized. He's 6-1 1/2, he's a little bit under 250 (pounds). So that's a little bit undersized for a defensive end, but he's a relentless guy. ... He just kind of always shows us and gets sacks and he's going. And for a seventh-round pick I think that's what you're looking for -- a guy who has a trait and has production. And his trait is being able to get to the quarterback."

--WR Deon Butler out of Penn State, drafted when the Seahawks traded up to select him in the third round, will get an opportunity to return punts and kickoffs.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I was blown away when I got off the plane. The city is beautiful. For the most part all the people I've met have been very nice to me, and everybody seems excited. And just when I walked into the build

ing it was just mind blowing just to be on the water. And I've always loved water." -- LB Aaron Curry, commenting on the team's new practice facility, which sits on the banks of Lake Washington.
