The Seattle Seahawks still don't know when injured quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will return, and the issue apparently is enough of a concern that they sent him back down to Los Angeles to see the specialist who discovered the bulging disk in his back.
Hasselbeck has been going through weekly strength tests on Mondays. He has failed the past three, preventing him from playing in any of the past three games, two of which have been losses.
Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said they will know more on Tuesday about whether Hasselbeck is available for Sunday's home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"Matt's thing is the same," Holmgren said. "He will rehab during the week. They'll check his strength. And right now it's on a week-to-week basis."
Meanwhile, middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu, who strained his groin in Sunday's win over San Francisco, will be limited in practice this week, though Holmgren said he may be ready to play against the Eagles, against whom he had three interceptions last season.
Defensive end Patrick Kerney re-aggravated the shoulder he had surgically repaired and he too will be limited in practice this week, though Holmgren said Kerney also should be available to play against the Eagles.
Meanwhile, they still will won't have wide receiver Deion Branch, and his return looks increasingly dubious given that they think he may have more than just a heel bruise.
At the very least, Seneca Wallace gave the team confidence it can operate without Hasselbeck after his 15-for-25, 222-yard, two-touchdown effort against San Francisco.
