Weaver was expected to have high interest on the market because of his versatility as a blocker, runner and pass catcher. However, the 26-year-old received lukewarm interest from the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams before both of those teams filled their fullback roles with Heath Evans and Mike Karney, respectively.

However, the latest team to show interest in Weaver is Philadelphia. The Eagles could certainly use Weaver. Philadelphia experimented with moving tailback Tony Hunt to fullback, with little success. The team later released Hunt and converted defensive tackle Dan Klecko to fullback.

Weaver and his agent, Harold Lewis, believe the 6-0, 242-pounder is worth running back money because of his diversity of skills. So far, however, teams have not been willing to offer as lucrative a contract as Weaver wants.

"He's an excellent receiver, runner, and blocker," Lewis told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "The fullback pay scale doesn't reflect his talents. We're just trying to find the right situation and the right contract. We can always go back to Seattle, because they'd like to have him back."

If Weaver finds no takers willing to pay the kind of money he seeks, the Seahawks, indeed, would like to have the talented fullback return - at the right price.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that according to a team source, the Eagles are interested in Weaver and are in preliminary negotiations.

Weaver's agent, Lewis, confirmed that report.

"Right now, we're just talking" with the Eagles, Lewis told the Inquirer. "We're talking with many other teams as well. There's a lot of interest because Leonard is the No. 1 fullback on the board."

The Seahawks signed Weaver as an undrafted free agent tight end out of Carson-Newman College in 2005. Seattle converted Weaver to a fullback, and he has thrived in that role. Weaver ran for 276 yards and one touchdown in the past two seasons, while catching 59 passes for 535 yards and two touchdowns during that time. Weaver also showed is explosiveness at San Francisco last season, catching two, short passes and turning them into touchdown catches for 62 and 43 yards in a 34-13 win over the 49ers.
